Russia scored six goals off fast breaks in the first 18 minutes to take a 11-3 lead and routed the U.S. men’s team, 31-16.
In other matches, the world-champion French trounced Algeria, 33-22, while Croatia beat Kuwait, 31-22, and Sweden defeated Switzerland, 26-19. Germany defeated Spain, 29-22, and Egypt beat Brazil, 31-20.
