Boeing Plans Production, Staff Increases: Boeing Co. said it will raise the production rate for its new 777 jet transport to seven airplanes per month from five and, as a result, expects to add 5,000 workers by the end of the year. The Seattle company said the increase is expected to bring its total work force to 118,350 by year-end. The latest increase in employees is in addition to an increase of 8,200 announced earlier this year. Boeing shares gained 87.5 cents to $91.25 on the New York Stock Exchange.
