San Fernando City Administrator Mary Strenn will address the Kiwanis Club on the state of the city at a luncheon meeting Tuesday.
Ed Montan, San Fernando parks and community services director, said the administrator gives a State of the City address about once a year. Topics will include the current city budget, revenue projections and various municipal projects.
At the meeting, Montan said, the city will also receive a $500 check from the Kiwanis Club to establish a scholarship program for local recreational activities.
“We’re trying to set up an account for kids who can’t afford to pay for our youth services programs in San Fernando,” said Montan, a Kiwanis Club member. “This money will cover the $10 a child needs to get into the basketball program or art classes or one of our other activities.”
The State of the City address is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. at the San Fernando American Legion Hall, 605 Pico St. The speech is free, but there is a charge for the luncheon, which begins at noon.
