Long Beach State lost its exhibition opener, 80-78, to the Upstate Developmental Basketball League All-Stars at the Pyramid. Forward Akeli Jackson had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Long Beach, which played without three key players who were either injured, suspended or ineligible. . . . Kevin Taylor had 20 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in Cal State Northridge’s 110-81 home-court exhibition victory over Son’s Blue Angels.
