Ticketing Drivers

* I sincerely hope that the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division will rethink its plan to give 100 motorists letters of commendation for courteous driving.
Your article states that police officers in the Valley will be pulling drivers over to reward them for exemplary driving. Although I applaud the idea, I think I will have to drive a bit recklessly until Dec. 24. The few moments of terror thinking I was about to receive a regular traffic ticket would not be worth any commendation. And, in this day and age, one might think that the person pulling them over was impersonating an officer, especially if he or she were unaware of this courteous driver plan.
I think the officers should either take down the license plate [numbers] and send the rewards through the mail or, better yet, add extra cars to keep the holiday season safer for us all.
