Brummel Coaches 300th Victory

Bill Brummel, Saddleback College men’s basketball coach, got his 300th victory last Friday when the Gauchos won a semifinal game against Los Angeles Valley at the Santa Barbara tournament.
The Gauchos lost to Monterey Peninsula, 88-86, in overtime in the title game Saturday leaving Brummel with a record of 300-171 in his 16th season. Saddleback is 6-5 this season.

The Orange Coast women’s basketball team hosts the sixth annual Coast Christmas Classic starting Friday.
In the first round: Southwestern and Fullerton meet at 1:30 p.m.; El Camino takes on Chaffey at 3:30; San Diego Mesa and Cuesta play at 5:30 p.m. and West Los Angeles plays OCC at 7:30 p.m.

Numbers: Dianne Pulido of Orange Coast leads the conference in scoring at 22.2 points and Rancho Santiago’s Chanel Neal is second at 21.6.
Irvine Valley’s Daryl Todd leads the conference men in scoring with 21 and Orange Coast’s Duane Curtis is second at 20.1.
OCC’s David Downs leads in rebounds at 9.8.
