Duck update--They are still looking for more consistency after blowing leads in four of five games on their 2-3 trip against the New York Rangers, New Jersey, Ottawa, Florida and Tampa Bay. Guy Hebert will start his ninth consecutive game in goal. Winger Teemu Selanne leads the team with 21 goals and 49 points. The Ducks are 13-10-3 with winger Paul Kariya in the lineup and 1-10-2 without him. Kariya’s first game back in the lineup after sitting out 11 because of an abdominal injury was against Vancouver, a 6-3 loss on Oct. 31 at Anaheim.

Canuck update--Winger Alexander Mogilny last week said if the Canucks are unwilling to acquire a standout center he would like to be traded. Of course, the easiest way to get a top-flight center would be to trade Mogilny. Vancouver was outscored, 25-8, in an eight-game span, but defeated the Kings, 4-3, and Toronto, 7-3, in the past two games. Defenseman Jyrki Lumme has an injured shoulder and will not play. Defensemen Bret Hedican and Chris Joseph also are injured, but could return.
