City Seeks Public Input on Ortega Highway

The city is sponsoring a public workshop tonight for residents to discuss the proposed Ortega Highway mitigation program, which tries to lessen traffic problems on the major roadway.

The purpose of the workshop, which starts at 7 p.m. in City Council chambers, is to give residents and businesses an opportunity to help develop the program.

Residents and city officials will review traffic and noise impact analyses to develop a better understanding of the nature and extent of the problems, particularly those involving trash and solid-waste haulers.

The workshop also will include an opportunity to discuss a range of possible solutions for traffic and noise problems.

The Ortega mitigation program has several goals: to assure that service levels and traffic safety are maintained or enhanced, to provide effective noise reduction and to bring the public into the decision-making process.
