3 Teens Suspected of December Killings Arrested and Jailed

Police arrested three teenagers in connection with an ambush-style shooting that left two men dead near a neighborhood park, authorities said Friday.

Investigators arrested a 16-year-old Santa Ana juvenile Wednesday, and statements made by the suspect led them to Thai Tran and Trinh Ly, both 19, who were taken into custody Friday, police said. All three were booked on suspicion of murder.

On Dec. 10, police officers found Jeremy Ryan Foster and Thang Cong Nguyen, both 18 and of Fountain Valley, sprawled on the ground near their car at Parkview Avenue and Bowling Green Street, authorities said at the time. The assailants had fired six to 12 shots, striking both men multiple times.

Police did not say what motivated the killing and are investigating whether it was gang-related.

The juvenile suspect is being held at Orange County Juvenile Hall. Tran, of Santa Ana, and Ly, of Westminster, were booked at the Orange County Jail. Investigators said they have not recovered any weapons.
