With a smooth, twangy flow reminiscent at times of Snoop Doggy Dogg, Da Brat throws tantrum after tantrum, offering gymnastic lyrical exercises such as the laid-back “Sittin’ on Top the World” and the fascinating “Live It Up” with world-class ease. She proves that her “Funkdafied” success wasn’t a complete fluke, but two great songs and 11 average ones do not make for a compelling album.--C.H.C.
