Good Morning, Babylon (Bravo Sunday at 8 p.m. and Monday at 12:30 p.m.) For their first English-language film in 1987 the Taviani brothers spun an ambitious and largely effective distinctive fictional tale of two Italian artisan-brothers (Vincent Spano, Joaquim de Almeida) who create the elephants for the famous Babylon set in D.W. Griffith’s “Intolerance” (1916).
Salaam Bombay! (Bravo Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Thursday at 9:30 a.m.) Mira Nair’s assured and passionate 1988 film, a fiction with its roots in the bitter truth, takes us into the fevered world of Bombay’s street children and celebrates their survival as an ongoing wonder.
