Writers Guild Event to Salute Gelbart

“Politically Incorrect” host Bill Maher will emcee “A Tribute to the Writer,” a Writers Guild of America program honoring Larry Gelbart for his lengthy career in radio, television and the stage.
Among the participants scheduled for the Jan. 28 event are Ed Asner, who performed in the radio version of Gelbart’s “Mastergate”; Jeffrey Tambor, whose projects with Gelbart include HBO’s upcoming “Weapons of Mass Distraction”; Rene Auberjonois, who played on Broadway in Gelbart’s “City of Angels”; and Hector Elizondo, who starred in the Broadway version of Gelbart’s “Sly Fox.”
The evening will also include a panel focusing on Gelbart’s long-running television hit, “MASH.”
Additional participants include Carl Reiner, Neil Simon and Red Buttons.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $7.50 for WGA members and $5 for students.
