More Rain Likely Through Tuesday

The rains that fell Sunday on the San Fernando Valley will be staying for at least a couple of days.
“It’s probably going to be wet,” said Bruce Rockwell, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Oxnard. “Dress for the weather and be careful driving. You’ll probably need an overcoat or something similar.”
Intermittent rain is to continue through at least Tuesday, but skies may clear later in the week. The current storm is not as strong as recent rains that have struck the Los Angeles area, mostly because of a flow of cool air originating in the Gulf of Alaska and the central Pacific.
“Cooler air doesn’t hold as much moisture,” Rockwell said.
Weather forecasters are not expecting much more than an inch of rain from the current storm.
However, the cool air will also lower the elevation of snowfalls to 5,000 feet, so more mountain areas could get more of the white stuff.
So far this season, the region has received 7.61 inches of rain, nearly two inches above normal.
High temperatures across the Valley on Monday will reach the upper 50s, only a few degrees above the projected low temperatures of about 52 or 53.
