George W. Trammell III, a Superior Court judge in Pomona, has abruptly resigned from the bench, court officials said Monday.
Trammell, 60, who has been a judge since 1971 and on the Superior Court bench since 1988, resigned last Friday. Officials declined to provide further details.
Trammell presided over a jury trial that ran on for 54 weeks, a case that stemmed from a 1971 Sylmar tunnel explosion. He served as presiding judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court in the mid-1980s.
Trammell could not be reached for comment.
