Ameritech Corp. said it made errors in its landmark filing with the Federal Communications Commission to offer long-distance service in Michigan and will refile the document Friday. The Chicago-based Baby Bell on Jan. 2 became the first local phone company to seek FCC approval to offer long-distance service in the same markets where it provides local phone services. The FCC has 90 days from the date of the filing to make a ruling. Ameritech said it will resubmit the filing with up-to-date information on contracts and details that were “inadvertently” omitted in the first filing. If Ameritech resubmits its filing, FCC officials said the agency will restart the 90-day limit for a decision, giving the FCC until mid-April to render a decision.
