Blumfield’s Shot Helps Stop Granada Hills

Cara Blumfield’s three-point shot with two minutes left put El Camino Real ahead for good in a 47-46 victory over Granada Hills Wednesday in a Northwest Valley Conference game at El Camino Real.
Blumfield scored 17 points and Justina Williams and Aja Diamond each had 10 for the Conquistadores (7-0, 1-0).
Kennedy 61, Birmingham 24--Vanessa Dunn scored 17 points for the Golden Cougars (13-3) in a Northwest Valley Conference opener at Kennedy.
Tamaya Morris and Tammy Barber each had nine points, and Morris had six assists.
Yvonne Velasquez scored six points for the Braves (8-4), who did not score in the first quarter.
Cleveland 45, Chatsworth 42--Stacey Harris’ steal and basket with 25 seconds remaining powered the Cavaliers (2-8, 1-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland.
Harrris sank two free throws with 10 seconds left to seal the victory.
Aziza Shepherd had 22 points and 13 rebounds for Cleveland.
Patricia Nuno scored 10 points for Chatsworth.
Poly 46, Grant 42--Freshman twins Quiana and Ciara Jeffries lifted the Parrots in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant.
Quiana had 21 points and Ciara added 18 for Poly (3-7, 1-0).
Monroe 41, Sylmar 26--Dondria Yost scored 15 points and Shirlee Low had 10 points, five assists and five steals for the Vikings (5-7, 1-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Monroe.
Rocio Salcedo had 13 points, 12 rebounds and four steals for Sylmar (0-4, 0-1).
North Hollywood 78, Reseda 21--The Huskies led, 26-7, after the first quarter and didn’t look back against the Regents (2-5) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference opener at North Hollywood Park.
Tashean Thomas had 24 points and 10 steals for the Huskies (12-3).
Van Nuys 55, Canoga Park 21--The Wolves (5-8, 1-0) had little trouble with the Hunters (0-7, 0-1) in a Valley-Pac 8 game at Canoga Park.
Verdugo Hills 43, Hollywood 23--Deyna Barnard scored nine points and the the Dons (1-7, 1-4) won for the first time in a Northern League game.
Sherman Oaks CES 53, Elizabeth Street 20--Erica Ephraim scored 28 points for the Knights (5-2, 3-1) in a Magnet League game at Sherman Oaks CES.
La Canada 58, San Marino 38--Terrie Doizaki scored 19 points and Becca Jones had 12 points and six rebounds for the Spartans (10-6, 2-0) in a Rio Hondo League game at La Canada.
Ginger Calub added 11 for La Canada.
