City May Help Library Add Day to Schedule
- Share via
Despite the city’s own financial troubles, officials tonight will consider spending $5,000 to keep the local county library branch open an extra day each week.
The Stanton library lost $90,000 under the county’s decision to trim $3 million from its $20-million library budget.
The branch is now open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
If the city is able to pitch in $5,000, the library can stay open on Mondays for the next five months.
The proposal comes as the city continues to grapple with the decline in recent years of sales tax and property tax revenue.
The council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave. Information: (714) 379-9222.
