Edniesha Curry
SCHOOL: Palmdale
SPORT: Basketball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: A 5-foot-2 guard and varsity starter since her freshman year, Curry has averaged 15.4 points and 4.3 assists and ranks as one of the Golden League’s best defensive players. With Curry usually leading Palmdale’s fastbreak, the Falcons have raced to a 19-3 record in pursuit of a return to a Southern Section championship game.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Curry scored a career-high 32 points in a 79-41 rout of then-No. 4 Quartz Hill on Friday, a victory that probably gave Palmdale at least a share of the Golden League title. Quartz Hill was the only league team expected to challenge the Falcons, but Curry had nine assists and six rebounds and shut out Kenya Corley, the region’s scoring leader, for the first 13 minutes and held her to 13 points, 11 fewer than her average.
