SANTA CLARITA — Danny Cato had three hits, including two doubles, but it wasn’t enough for The Master’s in an 8-7 loss to Biola in the baseball season opener for both teams Tuesday at Master’s.
The nonconference game was called after eight innings because of darkness.
Biola scored the winning run in the top of the eighth.
Steve Rogers, who transferred to Biola after two seasons at Master’s, pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the victory.
Master’s played its first game since suspending its baseball program last year because members of the team had engaged in improper conduct.
Master’s led, 5-0, after two innings but Biola rallied and scored three runs in the sixth to tie the score, 7-7.
Eric Moore took the loss.
Master’s and Biola each had eight hits.
