Safdari’s Goals Lift Chatsworth, 2-1

Abduluh Safdari scored a goal in each half and Chatsworth High held on to beat Kennedy, 2-1, in a Northwest Valley Conference boys’ soccer match Tuesday at Chatsworth.
The Chancellors (6-11-2, 3-4-2 in conference play) overcame the loss of starting goalie Leo Gimenez, who was taken to the hospital for stitches after hitting his head against a goal post while making a save.
Carlos Perez scored for the Golden Cougars (3-3-2 in conference play).
Rio Mesa 2, Ventura 1--Jamie Ambriz’s goal in the 65th minute lifted the Spartans (11-1-3, 6-0-3) in a Channel League match at Ventura.
Glendale 1, Muir 0--Gayk Mirzakhanyan scored on a breakaway for the Dynamiters (11-5-1, 2-1-1) in the first half of a Pacific League match at Muir.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Poly 4, Van Nuys 1--Jessica Sierra scored three goals in the first half for the Parrots (5-1-1, 4-0) in a Mid-Valley League match at Poly.
Monroe 0, North Hollywood 0--Husky goalkeeper Tracy Noblitt recorded six saves and Viking goalie Lupe Brambila had two saves in a Mid-Valley League match at North Hollywood.
North Hollywood is 4-2-1, 2-1-1 in conference play; Monroe 5-1-1, 3-0-1.
Ventura 5, Rio Mesa 1--Mandi Enfield and Lindsay Shull each scored two goals for the Cougars (11-4-3, 5-2-1) in a Channel League match at Rio Mesa.
Buena 9, Oxnard 0--Kelly Nash scored three goals and Kimi Stetler added two for the Bulldogs (14-2-4, 6-0-3) in a Channel League match at Buena.
Chaminade 2, Louisville 1--Lindsey Horn and Jennifer Valentine scored for the Eagles (13-2-3, 3-1) in a Mission League match at Chaminade.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 67, Redlands 52--Anita Richardson scored 19 points on eight-of-13 shooting for the Regals in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Cal Lutheran.
Melissa Wood added 13 points and Jenny Toler 12 for Cal Lutheran (10-5, 3-2).
Richardson also had 12 rebounds.
Christie Erickson scored 12 points for Redlands (7-8, 0-4).
