Lightning Loses Striking Power

The sprained right wrist of Tampa Bay center Brian Bradley was placed in a cast, leaving the Lightning without its leading scorer over the past four seasons for at least two weeks. Bradley suffered the injury during a game Jan. 9 against Philadelphia.

The Dallas Stars claimed their all-time leader in points, assists and games played, Neal Broten, off waivers from the Kings.

Broten began this season with the Devils, then was traded to the Kings on Nov. 22. For the season, he has five assists in 22 games. For his career, he has 281 goals and 627 assists in 1,078 games.

Buffalo Sabre left wing Randy Burridge will sit out two to four weeks after tearing cartilage in his left knee during practice.

Greg Johnson, acquired by Pittsburgh from Detroit for Tomas Sandstrom, arrived only minutes before the Penguins’ practice and was immediately put through a full workout. Coach Eddie Johnston said Johnson will join a line with Petr Nedved and Andreas Johansson, taking Sandstrom’s old spot at right wing.

Johnson and Nedved were teammates with Team Canada in the 1994 Olympics.
