Spotlight: Firm Halts Shipments of Blood Test Devices

Shipments of paper test strips used by diabetics to monitor their blood sugar levels were halted by the manufacturer after the Food and Drug Administration questioned the strips’ reliability. Diagnostic Solutions Inc. of Irvine stopped shipping its Quik Check strips in December, said a spokesman for Minneapolis-based Chronimed Inc., the distributor. Privately held Diagnostic Solutions is apparently working with the FDA to resolve the problem. The firm could not be reached for comment.
