Man Seized Inside Burning Clinic

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — A man was ordered held without bond Wednesday after police caught him inside a burning abortion clinic that has been a frequent target of protests.
James Anthony Mitchell, 38, of Nokesville, did not enter a plea when arraigned on charges of burglary with the intent to commit arson and possession of burglary tools.
Tuesday night’s fire at the American Women’s Clinic damaged files, an office and a laboratory on the first floor, but it apparently did not damage expensive medical equipment one floor above.
The clinic, which serves about 300 women a month, was not open at the time. A janitor escaped unharmed.
