Groundbreaking for Synagogue Is Sunday
The city’s only Jewish congregation, Adat Israel, will celebrate the groundbreaking for a synagogue and Jewish center Sunday.
The congregation, also known as Chabad of West Orange County, was founded in 1984 by Rabbi Aron David Berkowitz to serve the area’s Jewish community as an Orthodox synagogue and outreach center.
Construction of the offices, kitchen and social hall will take about three months. Depending on the success of fund-raising, work will begin on the sanctuary in hopes of having it completed for the High Holy Days in October.
Groundbreaking ceremonies will start at 11 a.m. Sunday, at 5052 Warner Ave., just east of Bolsa Chica Road. The public is welcome.
