Long Beach struggled in a 53-51 loss Thursday night at Idaho. James Cotton scored 20 points for the 49ers and is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 23.4 points. Pacific, which has cliched the Western Division title, defeated Long Beach State, 74-57, on Jan. 18 at Stockton, Calif.
