Pickup Scheduled for Large Trash Items

Is that musty old ottoman too heavy for a Hefty? Have no fear. Monterey Park announced Monday that its biannual “special trash” pickup program is on the way.
In cooperation with the Athens Disposal Co., the pickup allows residents to dispose of unwanted furniture, appliances and other cumbersome items, said Jerry Walker, spokesman for the city’s public works maintenance department.
Residents can learn their pickup date by calling (818) 307-1490.
Athens will not pick up construction debris or hazardous materials such as paint or household chemicals, Walker said.
