Basketball standouts Daniel Bobik of Newbury Park High and Rafael Berumen of Simi Valley have been named co-players of the year in the Marmonte League.
Bobik, a 6-foot-5 junior guard, averaged 20 points for the Panthers, who tied Simi Valley for the league title and reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division II-A playoffs.
Berumen, a 6-8 sophomore center who transferred from Pomona, averaged 23.3 points and 10.9 rebounds for the Pioneers, who advanced to the I-AA quarterfinals.

Thousand Oaks center Jenn Detmer and Channel Islands forward Judy Tuimoloau are girls’ co-players of the year in the Marmonte League.
Detmer, a 6-3 senior who will play volleyball at Stanford, averaged 20 points and helped the Lancers tie Channel Islands for the league title.
Tuimoloau, a 5-10 senior, led a turnaround for Channel Islands, which won only four games last season when she was academically ineligible.

Hart senior guard J.T. Stotts has been named most valuable player of the Foothill League. Stotts averaged 11 points and four assists for the champion Indians, who finished 23-6.
