Outlook: Although Los Alamitos had a disappointing season in 1996, Fleming believes this year will be different. Her team should be able to give league champion Fountain Valley some kind of challenge. “I think we’re in the top 10 of county schools,” Fleming said. “We have strong returners and a solid team.” Though the Griffins did not have a Southern Section finalist last year, Fleming believes that won’t happen again this season. With a strong water polo influence on the team, most of the Griffin swimmers are already in shape.
