Sagoian Leads Calabasas in Debut

Playing in his first game for Calabasas High after transferring from Chaminade and being forced to sit out last season, Matt Sagoian pitched five innings and drove in five runs in a 12-3 victory over El Camino Real in a San Fernando tournament game Friday at El Camino Real.
Sagoian had three hits, including a three-run home run, in the Coyotes’ opener.
He held the Conquistadores (1-1) to five hits and three runs.
In other baseball games:
Hart 19, Montclair Prep 2--Eric Horvat had four hits, including two home runs, drove in six runs and scored four times for the Indians in a pool play game of the Westside tournament at Hart High.
Horvat’s grand slam in the fifth inning gave Hart (1-0) an 11-2 lead.
Hueneme 8, Notre Dame 7--Pedro Cervantes’ one-out double in the sixth broke a 7-7 tie and capped a come-from-behind victory for the Vikings in a pool play game of the Westside tournament at Hueneme.
Chaminade 12, Poly 0--The Eagles pounded 14 hits in the San Fernando tournament pool-play game at Poly (0-2).
Brian Kirby had four hits and three runs batted in for Chaminade (1-0).
Birmingham 4, Thousand Oaks 3--Billy McGrath’s two-run single in the first inning gave the Braves (2-0) a 3-2 lead in a San Fernando tournament game.
Burroughs 7, Agoura 3--Wes Hutchison had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs for the Indians (1-0) in an El Segundo tournament first-round game at Burroughs. Tony Sandoval scattered five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal d. Santa Barbara, 15-7, 15-6, 15-8--Ryan Denihan had 18 kills and Marc Chaffee added nine for the the Highlanders (1-0) in a nonleague match at Santa Barbara.
