BOYS’ DIVISION IV
Laguna Beach (18-4-1) vs. Pasadena La Salle (23-1-3), Cerritos Gahr HS, 10 a.m.
Third-seeded La Salle defeated Laguna Beach, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Chino Don Lugo tournament in December and was co-champion of Division V last year with Palos Verdes Chadwick. Laguna Beach Coach Andy Thomas said losing to La Salle 2 1/2 months ago doesn’t worry him. “I like going in as the underdog,” Thomas said. He also likes that he will have leading scorer Chris Whitworth (19 goals) back. Whitworth, the Pacific Coast League MVP, missed the semifinal victory over Whittier Pioneer because of red card he sustained in the quarterfinals. La Salle is led by senior forward Adam Perez, who has 23 goals and nine assists, and senior forward Jack Reid (10 goals, 11 assists). Junior goalkeeper Dan Sheridan has not given up a playoff goal and has given up only 14 all season.
