Hebert Is No Sitting Duck

How hot is goalie Guy Hebert? No, he didn’t record three consecutive shutouts like Phoenix’s Nikolai Khabibulin.
But over a longer stretch, it’s hard to beat Hebert, who cracked the NHL leader board for save percentage Monday, making his season debut in a tie for fifth at .921.
Chicago’s Jeff Hackett leads the NHL with a .931 mark, followed by Buffalo’s Dominik Hasek, Florida’s Mark Fitzpatrick, Colorado’s Patrick Roy and the two goalies tied with Hebert, Florida’s John Vanbiesbrouck and Hartford’s Sean Burke.
Throw out the first month of the season--the Ducks wish they could--and nobody has a higher save percentage than Hebert, who would be tied for first with Hackett and Hasek at .930.
Hebert has been especially torrid over the past five games, facing 170 shots and giving up only seven goals for a .959 save percentage.
How far has he come? Back in November, Hebert was closer to the NHL’s bottom five, when he had an .878 save percentage to go along with a 1-8-3 record in November. He’s now 24-22-9.
