Calavitta cruised into the state final, pinning two opponents and beating one by technical fall. Then it got tougher. Kirk Moore of Bakersfield Foothill kept it close, trailing by one into the third period. But despite a vocally pro-Moore crowd, Calavitta won his second consecutive state title, 9-5, and helping the Eagles to the team championship.
