Concordia Women Try to Extend Streak Tonight

IRVINE — The Concordia women’s basketball team will try to add to its school-record 27 victories when it faces Fresno Pacific in the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament final at 7:30 tonight at Concordia.
The top-seeded Eagles (27-5) have won 15 in a row, including two victories over third-seeded Fresno Pacific (18-11). They won 78-71 at Fresno in January and 69-64 in Irvine last month. The Eagles are led by Angela Sather, conference player of the year, who averages 21.3 points.
Tonight’s winner advances to the NAIA tournament, March 19-25 in Jackson, Tenn. Concordia, then called Christ College Irvine, reached the national tournament in 1992 and ’93.
