Daily Racing Form Again for Sale

The Daily Racing Form, a newspaper whose endless columns of small tabular type are supposed to guide horseplayers to winners at the track, may be sold for the third time in the last 10 years.
K-III Communications Corp. announced Tuesday that the Racing Form, first published in 1894, is for sale.
Bill Dow, president and chief executive officer of the Racing Form, said from his office in Phoenix, Ariz., that the publication is still profitable, even though it finds itself threatened by competition in a depressed industry that is scrambling to avoid further erosion of its customer base.
There have been reports that the Form’s weekly national circulation, which once totaled 500,000, is now under 100,000.
