In the another tournament game:
La Habra 11, Aliso Niguel 6 (6, darkness)--David Correa went three for five with two RBIs and Shaun Beutner went three for four with two RBIs as La Habra advanced to Saturday’s championship against Buena Park. Freshman Kyle Ballard picked up his first victory of the season. La Habra (3-0) won only five games last season.
In nonleague boys’ golf:
Savanna 399, Rancho Alamitos 421--Sophomore Clint White of Rancho Alamitos set a school record for 18 holes, shooting a combined score of par 70 at Willowick and Dad Miller. White’s score broke Greg Balliet’s par 71 record in 1971.
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Canyon 86, Esperanza 84--Canyon’s first- and third-place finish in the last event of the meet--the 400 freestyle relay--was enough to give the Comanches the win. Lauren Volcan, who won the 100 free (56 seconds), swam both relays for Canyon (2-0).
