J. Hart Lyon, 83, Los Angeles Broadway executive and community worker. Lyon spent 30 years with the former Carter Hawley Hale Stores, retiring in 1987 as executive vice president in charge of developing the market services division. During his tenure, he served as president of Weinstock’s, chairman and chief executive of the Broadway and a director of the parent company. In his community service work, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and served as a trustee of the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine. He earned a humanitarian award in 1981 from the International Orphans Inc. for his support of Children’s Village programs. He also helped raise funds to support the UCLA School of Medicine. Born in Montgomery, Ala., Lyon served as a major in the Army Air Corps during World War II. On Thursday in Los Angeles.
