Harrick, Kupchak to Speak at Luncheon

Jim Harrick, former UCLA basketball coach, and Mitch Kupchak, Laker general manager, will be the featured speakers at the Newsmakers Luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pond.

The luncheon is open to the public. The cost is $20 and reservations can be made by calling (714) 758-0222. KTLA sportscaster Ed Arnold will be the emcee.

Liz Delgado, a forward for Capistrano Valley, was named most valuable player this season by the Orange County Girls’ Soccer Assn. Delgado led Capistrano Valley to the South Coast League championship and the second round of the Southern Section Division I tournament.

UC Santa Barbara freshman catcher Kendra Wood (Villa Park High) was named softball player of the week by the Big West Conference. Wood batted .533 with 14 runs batted in last week in six games against Santa Clara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Loyola Marymount as the Gauchos improved to 16-9.
