Dominguez Wins Third Consecutive Title

Junior forward Tayshaun Prince made four three-point shots and scored a game-high 24 points to lead Compton Dominguez to a 78-63 victory over Oceanside El Camino in the Southern Regional Division II championship game Saturday at the Pond of Anaheim.
The 6-foot-7 Prince was the key for the Dons (28-5), who outscored El Camino by 15 points in the second half after playing to a 35-35 halftime tie.
Prince scored two of his three pointers in the fourth quarter when Dominguez began to pull away. He also added a game-high 10 rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row in a Southern Regional for the Dons, who are the defending state Division II champions.
“Our program is getting better and better each year,” Dominguez Coach Russell Otis said.
Senior guard Kenny Brunner had 15 points and five assists and junior forward Jason Thomas 14 points for Dominguez.
El Camino (31-3), which shot 40% from the floor in the second half, was led by senior guard Joe Eyres and senior forward Henry Lalane, who scored 15 points each.
