San Diego Horizon Christian 70, Pasadena Poly 49--Sophomore forward Detrick Watts scored 18 points in the second half, leading Horizon to its first appearance in the State Division V championship. Horizon was defeated by Van Nuys Montclair Prep in the previous two Regional finals.
Horizon (28-1) held Pasadena Poly’s 6-foot-7 center Robert Reeder to 17 points, seven below his average and limited him to six field goal attempts.
Horizon led, 48-41, after three quarters before outscoring Pasadena Poly (27-2) 22-8 in the fourth quarter. Diego Aguilera scored 13 points and Wayne Bernard had 10 for Horizon.
