McVeigh Legal Team Investigator Resigns

An investigator for Timothy J. McVeigh has resigned, saying he was upset by allegations that he had fabricated a confession by the Oklahoma City bombing suspect. Oklahoma freelance writer J.D. Cash has said investigator Richard Reyna wrote the phony confession in an effort to trick a possible suspect into giving information about the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. “It’s an absolute falsehood,” Reyna said. “I never falsified any documents.” Cash stands by his story. During an appearance on NBC-TV’s “Today” program, Reyna confirmed a report that he had resigned from the defense team led by Stephen Jones. Jones did not return a phone call seeking comment.
