Titans, Oetgen Win in Pool Play at Softball Tournament

Cal State Fullerton scored three runs in the top of the third inning, and defeated Southwestern Louisiana, 3-2, in pool play of the Pony softball tournament Thursday at Cal State Fullerton.
Jana Oetgen went the distance for the Titans (9-11), giving up five hits and one earned run. Oetgen also had a sacrifice fly to start Fullerton’s three-run inning. Dara Marzola followed with a two-run single for the Titans.
Rachel Olvera went three for four with a run scored.
Pool play continues today with Cal State Fullerton playing Washington at 3 p.m. Teams then move from pool to championship play at 5 p.m. The tournament continues Saturday and the title game is Sunday at 2 p.m.
In nonconference baseball:
Southern California College 7, New Mexico Highlands 1--SCC (18-8) used six walks and four hits to score seven runs in the fourth inning, including two-run singles by Terrik Clark and Kevin Doyle.
Jeremiah Taylor (2-1) pitched seven innings, struck out 10 and gave up three hits for the Vanguards.
