Loyola Marymount has called a news conference for today to announce its new basketball coach amid reports that former Lion coach Paul Westhead and former UCLA coach Larry Farmer were the leading candidates.
Westhead coached at Loyola for five seasons, compiling a 105-48 record before moving on to coach the Denver Nuggets after the 1990 season. He was fired as coach at George Mason University after this season.
Farmer compiled a 61-23 record in three seasons (1981-1984) at UCLA and also coached at Weber State before doing color commentary on basketball telecasts recently.
