Tosco to Resume Talks With Union
Tosco Refining Corp. is expected to resume contract negotiations today with the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, which represents workers at the three California refineries Tosco is buying from Los Angeles-based Unocal Corp. The talks were scheduled Friday after the union threatened a strike. The union rejected an offer from Tosco that would have slashed refinery jobs by 15% to 20%. Refinery workers have been operating without a contract since early March. Stamford, Conn.-based Tosco is scheduled to complete its purchase of the refineries by March 31.
