Unseasonably Warm Weather Is Brewing

After a brief cool-down on Sunday, the San Fernando Valley will be mostly warm and sunny for the rest of the week, with occasional breeziness as a high-pressure system moves through the region, according to Bill Hoffer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

For today, some low clouds and fog expected for the morning will disappear as the day wears on to let the sun shine through. Light winds will begin on Tuesday, Hoffer said, preceding the high-pressure system that will bring us another period of unseasonably warm temperatures.

The highs today will be in the upper 70s, then jump to the 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Valley, Hoffer said. Temperatures are expected to cool off on Thursday as the system pushes east.

The high-pressure system is in the shape of a large upside-down cereal bowl, Hoffer said, blocking out unstable weather. “As the cereal bowl moves east, low pressure follows it,” Hoffer said. “And then you have the sea breezes coming in.”

Some of today’s predicted highs are 78 in Burbank and 80 in Woodland Hills.
