CalComp Cuts Jobs

ANAHEIM — CalComp Technology Inc., which announced in November that it would lay off 235 workers, said Tuesday that it will eliminate another 50 positions overseas as part of a worldwide restructuring of its operations.

After announcing the original round of layoffs, the maker of computer products decided that it should pare nonessential costs overseas, primarily in Europe, said John Millerick, interim president.

About 175 employees are losing their jobs in Orange County, where the company employs 400 at its Anaheim complex. With recent acquisitions, the company should end up with 925 to 950 employees worldwide, Millerick said.

CalComp executives are talking with several bidders interested in buying the company’s Anaheim offices, built for more than 1,300 workers. CalComp plans to move to smaller quarters in the county.

CalComp, a publicly held company, is 90% owned by Lockheed Martin Corp.
