Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. May 3, at Pasadena’s Throop Memorial Unitarian-Universalist Church for the church’s former minister, the Rev. Harmon M. Gehr.
Gehr, who died March 20 at the age of 89, had served the church at 300 S. Los Robles Ave., Pasadena, from 1956 until his retirement in 1973.
A former violinist with the Cleveland Symphony, Gehr often supplemented his Sunday sermons by playing violin solos from the pulpit. Within the community, he was particularly known for his efforts to integrate Pasadena schools and the city’s police and fire departments.
