Woman Crossing Street Is Killed

SUN VALLEY — An elderly woman was killed Sunday after being hit by a car while crossing a street here, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was struck at 1:55 p.m. while crossing Glenoaks Boulevard just south of Vinedale Street, said Officer Jay Kessler of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division. The woman died at the scene.
Gordon Palmer, 80, of Sun Valley was driving his 1993 Buick south on Glenoaks Boulevard when he hit the woman, who was crossing in the middle of the block.
Palmer was not cited, Kessler said.
