Residents expect to get some political perspective from the opposite end of Los Angeles when City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas speaks Wednesday at the monthly meeting of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn.
Ridley-Thomas, a five-year council representative of South L.A., is expected to address topics including attempts to lure an NFL team to the city and how to keep gangs out of neighborhoods.
“He was elected based on a pledge of empowering residents by creating a structure of community involvement,” said association President Richard Close.
Ridley-Thomas has taken a leading role in the effort to attract a football team to replace the Raiders and Rams, both of whom left Los Angeles in recent years. He has advocated that the new team play at a rebuilt Coliseum.
The public meeting will begin at 8 p.m. at Glendale Federal Bank, 13300 Ventura Blvd.
The association plans to skip its July meeting, gathering next in August.
