Detectives hope to find and question a man who fled after pellets from a shotgun blast hit a boy at a elementary school playground, Pomona police said Thursday.
Robert David Rico, 22, is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting of the 11-year-old boy Wednesday at Kinsley Elementary School, Police Sgt. Gordon Jones said.
The boy, hit by as many as 19 pellets as he prepared to play soccer, was in good condition at Pomona Valley Medical Center on Thursday, Jones said. None of the wounds were life threatening, he said.
Investigators said Rico was in a backyard next to the schoolyard when the shot was fired through a wooden fence, striking the child.
Rico is described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 180 pounds and heavily tattooed.
