William Wilke; Southland Architect Designed Homes, High-Rises

William Berry Wilke, 73, Southern California architect whose designs ranged from luxury homes to churches to high-rise buildings. A third-generation Californian and Los Angeles native, Wilke was educated at UC Berkeley and the San Francisco School of Fine Arts and apprenticed in San Francisco. He served in the Navy during World War II, designing aircraft templates and patent drawings. During his half-century of practice with his firm Wilke & Wilke Designers, he taught architectural drawing at Mt. San Antonio College in Pomona. In recent years, he designed interior space for convalescent hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and retirement homes. On July 17 in Temecula of Alzheimer’s disease.
